British Airways stopping flights to war torn Middle East country until later this year
British Airways suspending flights to Middle East amid ongoing conflict
British Airways has suspended all flights to multiple Middle East regions due to the escalating Iran conflict. The airline confirmed that services to and from Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv have been halted this month.
Customer Alert: Scam warnings issued
A customer update, dated March 10, warned travelers to remain vigilant about potential scams. It emphasized relying only on official British Airways channels for information, urging passengers not to share personal or financial details via suspicious links.
“We’re keeping the situation under constant review and are in touch with our customers to offer them a range of options,” the airline stated.
Additionally, daily rescue flights from Muscat have been paused following Thursday, citing decreased demand. The airline highlighted the impact of “continuing uncertainty” and “airspace instability” in the region.
Airspace closures disrupt travel networks
Countries in the Middle East have responded to the US and Israel-led strike on Iran by closing a critical airspace corridor. This move has prompted major airlines to cancel thousands of flights or rapidly reroute them to avoid affected zones.
Airports in the Middle East, which serve as vital international transit hubs, are now experiencing significant operational changes. Tens of thousands of travelers rely on these facilities daily, but the current disruptions have forced adjustments to their schedules.
Scammers exploit the chaos
British Airways customers reported being targeted by fake accounts impersonating the airline’s customer service. One user shared screenshots of fraudulent interactions with Qatar Airways representatives, even arranging a non-existent rescue flight.
The airline advised passengers to message them with their contact details and address, urging caution against unsolicited requests for sensitive information.
