Razzie Awards 2026: Anti-Oscars name ‘War Of The Worlds’ as Worst Picture

Razzie Awards 2026: ‘War Of The Worlds’ Crowned Worst Picture

Each year, before the Oscars highlight cinematic achievements, the Golden Raspberry Awards—commonly known as the Razzies—shine a light on the year’s most disappointing films. This tradition continued at the 46th edition of the ceremony, where the sci-fi actioner War Of The Worlds emerged as the biggest offender, starring Ice Cube in a lead role.

While some may see it as a harsh critique, others view it as a necessary counterbalance. The film’s five Razzie wins solidify its status as a cinematic misstep, including Worst Picture, Worst Director (Rich Lee), Worst Actor (Ice Cube), Worst Screenplay (Kenny Golde, Marc Hyman), and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. With such a dominant performance, only four other titles managed to secure awards this year.

Disney’s Snow White remake landed two Razzies: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo, both attributed to its CGI dwarfs. Rebel Wilson claimed Worst Actress for her action-comedy Bride Hard, while Scarlet Rose Stallone (Sylvester Stallone’s daughter) took Worst Supporting Actress for Gunslingers. The Razzies also recognized Kate Hudson with the Redeemer Award for her Oscar-nominated role in Song Sung Blue.

Previous Razzie Nods for Kate Hudson

Hudson has long been a familiar face on the Razzie shortlist, earning acting nods for My Best Friend’s Girl (2008), Mother’s Day (2016), and Music (2021). Her latest nomination, however, came with a twist—this time, it was a tribute to her resilience in a film that ultimately fell short of expectations.

It’s difficult to dispute this choice, given the Amazon-backed adaptation’s lackluster execution, which felt like a disservice to H.G. Wells’ original work.
