As the UK basks in a wave of warm weather this week, the summer festival season is already taking shape. While Glastonbury takes a break this year, fans have a packed schedule of events to look forward to, ensuring there’s something for every musical preference. From coastal vibes to city-centric gatherings, the lineup promises diverse experiences, with newcomers and returning favorites set to captivate audiences.

Major Events

The Reading and Leeds Festival, scheduled for 27 to 30 August, will feature six prominent British and Irish artists, including Charli XCX, Chase & Status, Dave, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., and Raye. Leeds will add a Thursday night exclusive with Kasabian, creating a weekend-long celebration for fans.

For those craving dance-driven energy, the Isle of Wight Festival offers a lineup that includes Lewis Capaldi, The Cure, and Teddy Swims, with Wet Leg set to deliver a standout performance. This event spans 18 to 21 June, blending local talent with international acts.

Boardmasters, taking place in Cornwall from 5 to 9 August, will host Fatboy Slim, Lily Allen, and The Kooks. If you prefer a festival without camping, TRNSMT in Glasgow from 19 to 21 June delivers a three-day experience featuring CMAT, Wolf Alice, and Two Door Cinema Club.

New Festival Series

The BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend returns to Sunderland from 22 to 24 May, welcoming Olivia Dean, Zara Larsson, and Niall Horan. This year, the festival season also includes fresh opportunities for emerging acts and locations.

Roundhay Festival in Leeds is making its debut in July, headlined by Pitbull and Lewis Capaldi. Meanwhile, Download Festival in the East Midlands will feature Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park from 12 to 14 June, catering to rock and alternative enthusiasts.

Truck Festival in Oxfordshire, running 23 to 26 July, brings together The Maccabees, The Wombats, and Kaiser Chiefs. For a coastal escape, Creamfields in Cheshire will showcase Swedish House Mafia, Martin Garrix, and Armin van Buuren from 27 to 30 August.

Specialized Gatherings

Parklife, held at Manchester’s Heaton Park on 20 and 21 June, features Calvin Harris, Skepta, and Sammy Virji. Boomtown Festival in Hampshire, from 12 to 16 August, will include Skrillex, Four Tet, and Faithless, while Lovebox Festival returns to Margate, Kent, on 29 and 30 May.

Notably, Silverworks Island in East London has emerged as a dance music hotspot, hosting Pendulum, Fisher, and Tiesto in June and July. Labyrinth on the Thames, which gained popularity last year, will return to Greenwich with headliners like Dom Dolla, Peggy Gou, and Michael Bibi in August. Kendal Calling in the Lake District, from 30 July to 2 August, promises an indie-focused lineup featuring Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, and The Libertines.
