Eamonn Holmes Hospitalized After Stroke
GB News confirmed that broadcaster Eamonn Holmes is recovering in the hospital following a stroke. The network shared in a statement that Holmes “fell ill last week” and the incident was later identified as a stroke. Colleagues at the channel have expressed hope for his quick return to health.
Joining GB News in 2022, Holmes co-hosts the breakfast programme with Ellie Costello. Fellow presenter Alex Armstrong is set to temporarily replace him during the upcoming week. The channel’s CEO, Angelos Frangopoulos, highlighted Holmes as “a cherished part of our team” in a concise statement.
“GB News is pleased to report that Eamonn Holmes is responding well to treatment,” the statement read.
Before this incident, the ex-This Morning presenter had discussed several health challenges, such as spinal surgery, hip replacements, and difficulties with mobility, including reliance on a scooter. According to NHS guidelines, a stroke occurs when blood flow to a brain area is interrupted. Symptoms may involve facial drooping, limb weakness, or speech difficulties, requiring immediate medical attention if noticed.
While details about Holmes’ condition remain limited, the channel has assured that he is in stable health. His absence from the air will be covered by Armstrong, ensuring continuity for viewers. The situation underscores the importance of prompt care in stroke recovery.
