Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says
Eamonn Holmes’ Health Improving Post-Stroke, Son Reports
Declan Holmes, the son of veteran broadcaster Eamonn Holmes, has shared that his father is in stable condition following a recent stroke. The family is proceeding cautiously, focusing on maintaining consistency in their routine. Declan emphasized the importance of steady progress, stating, “We’re taking it one step at a time.” He also acknowledged the support from well-wishers, expressing gratitude for their messages.
“We’d really value a bit of privacy as we navigate it [sic], and what lies ahead, but thank you again for the support as it means so much to dad and the rest of the family,” Declan added in an Instagram post. The message was accompanied by an image of him supporting his father’s shoulder.
GB News confirmed on Saturday that Holmes was hospitalized after experiencing a stroke last week, noting he is “responding well to treatment.” The network described him as a “loved member of the GB News family,” with CEO Angelos Frangopoulos vowing to accompany him through recovery. Holmes, who joined the channel in 2022, has long been a familiar face on breakfast television, previously hosting shows for Sky News and ITV.
Before transitioning to GB News, he was part of ITV’s This Morning team, where he co-hosted with his wife, Ruth Langsford, who he married in 2010. The couple recently announced their separation, with a spokesperson confirming “their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.” Holmes has also dealt with prior health challenges, including spinal surgery, a double hip replacement, and difficulties with mobility.
Understanding Strokes
According to NHS guidelines, a stroke happens when blood flow to a brain area is blocked. Symptoms can include facial drooping, arm weakness, and speech impairments. Holmes’ family is working to ensure his recovery remains on track while managing the ongoing situation.
