Royal Caribbean’s Record-Breaking Icon
Legend of the Seas holds the distinction of being Royal Caribbean’s third Icon-class vessel and notably the first to debut in European waters. Throughout the summer season, she offers seven-night Mediterranean itineraries departing from both Barcelona and Rome.
With a gross tonnage of 248,663, Legend of the Seas currently claims the title of the world’s largest cruise ship, surpassing her sister vessels Icon and Star of the Seas by a mere four millimeters. Her onboard attractions include the largest waterpark and slide complex available at sea, complemented by a sky-walk and zipline circuit that wraps around the ship’s exterior. With 40 dining and drinking venues serving 5,610 guests, the vessel also hosts exclusive productions of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical alongside an immersive Royal Railway dining concept.
Disney’s Maritime Expansion
Disney Adventure made her entrance into the fleet in March 2026 as the eighth ship in Disney’s growing collection. Homeported in Singapore, she operates three, four, and five-night cruises throughout Asian waters. Notably, Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. serves as her godparent.
Weighing in at 208,000 tonnes and accommodating over 6,000 guests, Disney Adventure stands as the company’s largest cruise vessel to date. Her distinctive amenities feature a full-scale Disney castle and the Ironcycle Test Run—the first rollercoaster ever installed on a Disney cruise ship. At 820 feet in length, this attraction will also hold the record for the longest rollercoaster at sea.
Regent Seven Seas Prestige-Class Debut
Regent Seven Seas is preparing to introduce its first new ship class in a decade. This 77,000-tonne vessel, designed for 822 passengers, will serve as the seventh ship in the fleet and the inaugural member of four upcoming Prestige-class vessels.
The ship boasts one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios available, standing 40 percent larger than the rest of the fleet. Passengers will enjoy butler service, premium lounges, and Azure—a Mediterranean mezze-style restaurant. With twelve distinct suite categories available, including the expansive 9,000-square-foot Skyview Regent Suite, luxury is paramount.
The Skyview Regent Suite commands £20,000 per night and accommodates up to six guests. It features floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, a dedicated butler, and a wraparound balcony exceeding 3,500 square feet. The vessel’s maiden voyage departs Barcelona for Miami on December 13, 2026, with itineraries extending through May 2027 to explore the Caribbean and Europe, including two transatlantic crossings.
Explora III and MSC World Asia
Explora III, the latest addition to the Explora fleet, will accommodate approximately 900 guests. Following the design philosophy of her sister ships, she offers five heated pools, six restaurants, and twelve bars and lounges, maintaining a guest-to-staff ratio of 1.25:1. Her maiden seven-night journey begins on August 3, 2026, traveling from Barcelona to Lisbon.
Meanwhile, MSC Cruises prepares to launch MSC World Asia in December 2026 as the newest member of their World-class series. This 6,782-capacity vessel incorporates design elements celebrating Asian culture, art, and landscapes.
