Child Dies in Dog Attack, Police Report

Cleveland Police confirmed a child died in a dog attack that is under investigation. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 PM BST at a location on Hardale Grove in Dormanstown, Redcar. Officers responded to the scene after receiving calls about a child in danger.

Authorities stated that upon arrival, the child was found deceased, with evidence pointing to a dog bite as the cause. One dog was destroyed on the street, while another at the property was taken into custody. The BBC has requested details about the child’s age and the breeds of the dogs involved.

“This is a distressing and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child’s family,” said District Commander Emily Harrison of Redcar and Cleveland. She emphasized that police were still at the scene conducting an investigation. “I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to contact an officer,” Harrison added.
