Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on
Savannah Guthrie Resumes Role on Today Show Amid Ongoing Search for Missing Mother
On Monday, US television personality Savannah Guthrie made a comeback to NBC’s Today show, marking her first studio appearance since January 30. This return comes as authorities continue their efforts to locate her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who went missing two days prior. The family had previously paused Guthrie’s responsibilities as co-anchor following the disappearance.
Earlier in February, the Guthrie family announced a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s safe return. Investigators suspect she was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home, though no clear motive or suspect has been identified. The missing woman’s absence was notable, as she was last seen being dropped off by relatives on the evening of January 31.
Guthrie, known for her prominent presence on US morning television, had temporarily stepped back from her duties. In an interview last month, she stated, “I can’t not come back. This is my family.” Her emotional return was underscored by a personal reflection on faith, shared during an Easter video message. “I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,’” she declared in a closing remark at Good Shepherd New York’s Easter Sunday service.
The search intensified after Nancy vanished without her medications. She was expected to attend a virtual Sunday service at a friend’s house the morning after January 31 but did not show up. Despite the uncertainty, Guthrie emphasized her commitment to work, even as concerns about her own influence on the situation lingered.
“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'” said Savannah Guthrie in her Easter Sunday message from Good Shepherd New York.
