A 14-year-old boy’s death has led to additional arrests for murder in south-east London. The incident occurred on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich around 15:40 BST on Thursday, resulting in the boy’s death at the scene. The 14-year-old, identified as Eghosa Ogbebor, was fatally wounded during the event.
On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old male and a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder. A separate 46-year-old individual was also detained for aiding the perpetrator. Earlier on Friday, three suspects were apprehended by police, including two teenagers aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old male, though they were later released on bail.
“Residents in Woolwich may have noticed heightened police activity last night, as officers arrested three further individuals linked to the investigation,” said Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, who leads the case. “We appreciate the concern Eghosa’s death has caused, especially within the local community, which will continue to see increased police presence in the area.”
Det Ch Insp Card emphasized that her team is actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding the boy’s fatal shooting. She urged anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious behavior in the vicinity to contact the authorities.
