Lionesses star opens up on heartbreaking miscarriage with footballer boyfriend weeks after announcing pregnancy
England’s Missy Bo Kearns has shared the devastating news of losing her baby shortly after revealing her pregnancy. The Aston Villa star and her 28-year-old partner, Liam Walsh, who plays for Luton Town, were anticipating their first child as early as March.
However, the midfielder shared the sad news on Instagram on Sunday, disclosing that their child had passed during the initial stages of the pregnancy. In a heartfelt message, she stated,
“With very heavy hearts, we want to share that we’ve lost our baby during pregnancy.”
Kearns expressed the profound grief she and Walsh have been experiencing, adding,
“The past weeks have been filled with a kind of sadness that’s hard to explain, and we’re still trying to come to terms with it all. Right now, we’re focusing on recovering and supporting each other through this.”
Following the announcement, both Aston Villa Women and Luton Town extended their condolences, offering words of comfort during this difficult period. Aston Villa Women wrote,
“We are sending all our love and support to Missy Bo and Liam at this challenging time.”
While Luton Town added,
“We send all our love and support to Liam, Missy Bo, and their families at this deeply sad time.”
Earlier this month, Kearns, 24, had celebrated her pregnancy with a joyous video where she painted the word ‘Mum’ on a wall, later joined by Walsh who added ‘Dad.’ The couple had anticipated the child’s arrival in September, with Kearns sharing ultrasound images to showcase their excitement.
Before the heartbreaking revelation, Kearns was set to miss the remainder of the season with Aston Villa and the upcoming campaign due to her pregnancy. She made her England debut last year and has since earned three caps for the Lionesses. Additionally, she was part of the standby squad for Euro 2025, though the team ultimately retained their title.
